Description
Description | Hyundai E&C builds cutting-edge financial data center based on Korea’s best seismic isolation systemHyundai E&C is currently working on the exterior works of KB Kookmin Bank Integrated IT Center by making use of anodized panels as part of its efforts to complete the construction of IT Building of a basement pit level and seven floors above ground and Operation Building of two basement levels and five floors above ground. The KB Kookmin Bank Integrated IT Center project was designed to gather all data of KB Financial Group in one place, manage it in a safer way, and centralize IT capabilities of one of the country’s largest financial groups.Korea’s primary builder received the deal valued at about 105.17 billion won in September 2017 to build the state-of-theart IT Center in a 13,144 square meter area, which was attributable to its extensive experience in constructing data centers of Korea’s prominent companies such as NH Integrated IT Center, Mokdong IDC Center and the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute, realistic suggestions aimed to meet the construction schedule, and better price competitiveness. The construction site more carefully responded to quality and safety issues as all data of KB Kookmin Bank flow in and out of IT Building. Above all things, it focused its all-out efforts on the utilization of seismic isolation systems.A total of 46 seismic isolation technologies such as natural rubber bearings (NRB), lead rubber bearings (LRB) and cross linear bearings (CLB) were inspected by local manufacturers in Japan, and their basic performances were verified through routine tests and the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL) performance tests.A seismic isolation bridge connecting IT Building and Operation Building serves as a solid support of the two buildings. In case of an earthquake, the bridge is able to absorb different movements of the two buildings, leading to preventing the bridge from breaking as well as the two buildings from collapsing at the same time. The construction site of the KB Kookmin Bank Integrated IT Center project has been hectic throughout the construction period in a bid to deal with daunting challenges including seismic isolation systems, foreign-made construction materials and air conditioning devices in the relatively short construction period of 20 months. However, the concerted efforts of those working at the construction site made it possible to successfully reduce the construction period and costs. |
