Description | Malaysia's state railway firm KTM plans to start a new passenger service on the 40km Kempas Baru-to-Pasir Gudang (KBPG) line, which currently serves only freight operations. The expansion will include the establishment of two passenger stations initially, with plans for more stations in the second phase. Infrastructure upgrades such as new halts, raised platforms, a passing loop, and upgraded signalling systems are necessary to accommodate passenger trains. Diesel trains will be deployed on this non-electrified single-track line. The service aims to manage higher commuter traffic expected from the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, scheduled to launch in December 2026. |
