Description | The Ken-Betwa Link Project is a river linking initiative launched in 1980 under the National Perspective Plan to transfer surplus water from the Ken basin in Madhya Pradesh to the water-deficit Betwa basin in Uttar Pradesh. The project aims to provide safe drinking water to 62 lakh people, irrigate 10.62 lakh hectares of barren land, and generate 130 MW of energy (103 MW hydroelectric and 27 MW solar). Phase I includes construction of the Daudhan Dam, a 221 km long canal, and power stations, while Phase II involves secondary dams, barrages, and the Bina Complex. |
