Ken-Betwa River Link and Irrigation Projects Protest Site

The project involves the Ken-Betwa river link and other irrigation projects in Madhya Pradesh, India. Several tribals have been protesting against these projects for over two weeks, demanding improved rehabilitation and compensation packages and inclusion of people left out of displacement surveys. The protest site was on the banks of the Barana river near Kupi village in Chhatarpur district. The police cleared the protest site due to rising water levels after heavy rains and moved the protest leader, Amit Bhatnagar, who was on a hunger strike, to a hospital.
