The project will construct a new aquatic facility in the District of Kent in Agassiz. The new pool will serve the surrounding communities and replace the existing seasonal outdoor facility with a year-round indoor centre. A lap pool as well as leisure pool are included to offer a broad range of programming, and accessibility features will be included. The project will create a new indoor aquatic facility to replace the existing outdoor facility which is 42 years old. It will allow the public to have year round access to swimming and would service the surrounding communities as well, as it would be the only facility in the region. Completing the facility would help attract young families to the area as well as improve access to activities that can increase the heath and wellness in the community. The project works will include: - 25m, 8 lane pool, leisure pool and whirlpool; - sauna and steam room; - viewing area with bleachers; - gender-specific and universal/family change rooms; - lifeguard room and other staff spaces; - landscaping and activity space; - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems; and, - related works.
