Description | The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) is conducting a study on the potential inclusion of nuclear power in Kentucky's energy future. The PSC is holding public meetings across the state to gather input from residents and stakeholders about nuclear energy, its costs, safety, environmental concerns, and regulatory aspects. The study is directed by Senate Joint Resolution 140 and aims to educate the public and explore the viability of nuclear power in Kentucky, which has never had a nuclear power plant before. The state had a moratorium on nuclear development lifted in 2017, and new technologies are being considered for smaller footprint and cost-effectiveness. |
