Kenya - Timboroa-Eldoret Road Rehabilitation Project

The Timboroa – Eldoret Road Rehabilitation Project is part of the Northern Transport Corridor international road, one of the Government?s priority corridors. The project involves the rehabilitation of 73 km of road section. This road was reconstructed in 1992 with bituminous surfacing and currently operates beyond capacity, carrying a weighted average of about 4,200 vehicles per day. The road has since deteriorated and the poor condition of the road represents increased transportation cost and transit time. The total project cost is UA 38.92 million and ADF loan will cover 89.9% (UA 35 million) and the Government of Kenya 10.1 % (UA 3.92 million). The overall project implementation time frame is four years (2011 – 2015). The completion of the project will increase intra-regional trade between Kenya and the neighbouring countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC and Sudan.
