Information East Central Railway [ECR] - I has come up with Khagaria-Kusheshwar Asthan [New Railway Line- 70km] with a ticket size of 1511.08 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is - and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The new Rail line project was sanctioned in 1997_98. The project of this new line originates from Khagaria station which is an important junction station on Barauni_ Katihar route of ECR and goes up to Kusheshwar Asthan. This new Rail line is falling in Samastipur Division of ECR and is required in view of inhabitants, devotees and public representation to link Kusheshwar Asthan which is a holy place in Darbhanga district and has an ancient temple of Lord SHIVA. After construction of a new line from Khagaria to Kusheshwar Asthan, it will help in development of under developed, waterlogged and industrially backward area. This project will create opportunity in future for coming up of Agro-based industries. It will be backbone of the area as there are insufficient means of transportation in the catchment area of the project line as there are no roads and large part of land remains under water during monsoon period and thereafter and thus only other means of transportation is country boats.
