Description | The Khandke wind farm was a 50.4 MW wind farm project located in Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. The project was being developed through a special purpose vehicle, Roaring 40s Wind Farms (Khandke) Pvt Ltd. (Roaring 40s). Roraring 40s was a joint venture of Roaring 40s Renewable Energy Pty Ltd. and Enercon (India) Limited (Enercon). Roaring 40s Renewable Energy Pty Ltd. was a joint venture between Hydro Tasmania of Australia and the CLP Group. As per Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (MERC) Renewable Purchase Regulation (RPO), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), is mandated to buy 5% of its power purchase requirement from renewable sources.The project was fully commissioned in June’09 and is selling 100% of its output to MSEDCL under the terms of a 13 year Power Purchase Agreement. The project was estimated to cost USD 67 million. HSBC Holdings Plc arranged finances for the project. USD 45 million was debt. The project was the first case of non-recourse financing in the wind power sector in India. 36 MW of capacity of the project was commissioned in May 2008.
