Description | Australia-based BID Energy Partners Pty Ltd has put forward plans for the construction of a 1,000-MW/4,000-MWh battery next to a coal mine not far from Sydney, in the Central Coast region of New South Wales. The battery energy storage system (BESS) will be located about 100 kilometres north of Sydney and connect to the National Electricity Market via a 330-kV transmission line. The project will cover around 110 hectares, with rows of enclosed battery modules connected to power conversion systems. Construction is expected to take 18 to 24 months, with commissioning anticipated for late 2027 or early 2028. The facility will have an operational lifespan of at least 25 years. |
