The hydropower station will start feeding additional electricity power into the national grid from December 2026, acting as a voltage stabilizer in the Northern Zone and eliminating the need for Tanzania to import auxiliary power from Kenya. The project is part of the East Africa Skills Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) and aims to provide renewable energy and build capacity in green energy technologies. |
