The project will rehabilitate and upgrade a year-round camping facility in Minden Hills, Ontario primarily devoted to serving children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. It will include the construction of an additional respite dorm; upgrades to improve the quality of major indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the facility (e.g. waterfront, trails, classroom and recreation rooms), which will include accessibility and safety improvements to meet changes to Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations, the replacement of fixed equipment in the dining hall and laundry facilities to extend the asset service life; and finally, winterization and accessibility improvements to sleeping cabins, including access pathways. The project will result in increased accessibility and safety of the facilities along with increasing seasonal capacity throughout the winter and providing service capacity in preventative respite where there is otherwise a local gap and provincial demand.
