Kindergarten in Nižný Hrušov, Slovakia renovated and expanded

This project fulfilled the conditions for granting a call for applications for a non-repayable financial contribution to increase the infrastructure capacity of kindergartens. Subsequently, the decision on its approval was issued.Mgr. Juliána Lukáčová - Head of UnitThe entire building underwent a makeover. The cladding of the exterior walls was replaced, providing the school with a new weather resistant, thermally insulating coating. The school’s main entrance and all doors and windows were renovated.A total makeover, from top to bottomInside, any damage to the plaster work was repaired and the walls and ceiling repainted. The existing cloakroom was expanded and a new staircase installed. The floors throughout the building were replaced.New furniture was acquired, including cabinets, tables and chairs for the classes and recreation rooms and deck chairs and linen for the bedrooms. The children’s bathrooms were renovated and now feature new lockers, towel racks and toothbrushes. New tables, chairs and dining sets were bought for the dining room.Inclusive educationThe project expanded the school’s capacity from 31 to 42 children, creating 11 more places for children between the ages of three and five. This allows more parents to reconcile their private and professional lives. Young couples with children that previously did not have access to daycare services can now find work and improve their family’s income.The project answered the pressing need for quality pre-school education and daycare services, both in the village and the surrounding region.Total investment and EU fundingTotal investment for the project “Reconstruction and expansion of kindergarten capacities in Nižný Hrušov” is EUR 94 444, with the EU’s European Regional Development Fund contributing EUR 80 278 through the “Integrated” Regional Operational Programme for the 2014-2020 programming period. The investment falls under the priority “Easier access to effective and quality public services”.
