KineDok is an international project which provides a platform for the circulation of documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe focusing on both event-based community-building distribution and online distribution in the form of online events and a VOD. The project aims to expand the field of distribution outside cinemas and to support the diversity of the cultural offer across 6 participating European countries (CZ, SK, HU, RO, HR, GE) with a gradually increasing number of audiences each year. The project will expand its activities by organising film education screenings with methodological materials at schools and libraries, and build on the good practice of organising documentary screening events with accompanying programmes both at unique venues and online. Targeting young audiences, the project aims to develop educational film screenings, Q&A, workshops for schools and inspire young adults to create film clubs at schools as an extracurricular activity. KineDok aims to achieve this goal by using CEE documentary films (subtitled 24 titles from CEE countries, each partner adds up to 8 titles locally and 2 blocks of short films) presenting a powerful medium and providing a platform to create dialogue. Our need to address students also reflects the current state of film education in schools after the global pandemic. We help students to develop critical thinking and discuss topics that are lacking from the curriculum such as diversity, inclusion, sustainability, and equality. The project stimulates young audiences to be culturally active. For further sustainability, KineDok supports capacity building by organising educational and training workshops for students and venue managers across the CEE region. The main output is to create a Good Practice Manual which would cover the topic of how to set up a screening venue. The manual will serve as a starting point for new joining venues but also for students who decide to run their school film clubs.
