The project entails the development of 35 MW Kinguélé Aval hydroelectric dam near Mbéi River, 100 km east of Libreville. Meridiam and Gabon Power Company (GPC) are the two developers of the project. The ownership structure of the special purpose vehicle - Asonha Energie - has Meridiam as the lead developer on the project. The shareholding is: Meridiam Infrastructure Africa Fund - 45%; Meridiam Infrastructure Africa Parallel Fund - 15%; and Gabon Power Company (GPC) - 40%. The total value of the project is $210.96 million, which will be financed on a 84:16 debt-to-equity ratio. Lenders are African Development Bank (AfDB), International Finance Corporation (IFC), Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) and Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF). The IFC also provided a separate risk guarantee worth $5.5 million. Financial close took place on July 2th, 2021.
