Description

Description

The project involves improvements to the Kingwood Diversion Ditch to reduce flooding. The Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) recommended building 405 acre-feet of detention south of the San Jacinto West Fork, but did not consider three additional detention opportunities within Kingwood that could reduce costs and flood risk. These include detention between Northpark Drive and St. Martha Catholic Church, removing a berm between Kings Manor and Kings Mill detention ditches to increase capacity, and creating extra capacity near the proposed new San Jacinto River outfall of the Diversion Ditch. The project aims to provide more detention capacity and reduce flood risk for Kingwood residents.
