The project involves the construction of the 40MW Kisumu solar PV power plant, located in in Kibos, Kenya. The project will be situated on 100 hectares of land donated by the Kenyan government and will connect to the national grid via a 220 kV substation located near the facility. It will provide clean and affordable energy to at least 610 000 people. Sponsor is Ergon Solair Africa, a subsidiary of the US-based Ergon Solair PBC. ?he electricity produced by the plant will be sold to the state-owned company Kenya Power under a power purchase agreement at a price of 7.5 US cents per kWh. The total project value is $53.6 million (Kshs 6.4 billion).
