Description | Agnico Eagle and Nukik Corp. signed an agreement to advance the Kivalliq Hydro-Fibre Link, a roughly 1,200-kilometre corridor connecting Nunavut's Kivalliq region to hydroelectric power and fibre-optic networks in Manitoba. The project aims to deliver up to 150 megawatts of electricity and 1,200 gigabits per second in fibre-optic capacity to five Kivalliq communities and Agnico's Meliadine gold mine, reducing diesel use and Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions. Nukik aims to have the link in service by 2032. |
