Description

Description

The Multipurpose building is composed of four propane gas boilers and hydronic water system alongside twelve individual air conditioners (AC). This a very inefficient system and leads to significant operating costs - upwards to $6,000 during winter months. It is proposed to retrofit the existing Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC) infrastructure with an electric air source heat pump (ASHP). The proposed ASHP would be capable of heating and cooling. Paired with this retrofit will be, a 70.4 kW roof-top solar photovoltaic (PV) system to displace the annual electricity consumption (kWh) through BC Hydro’s Net Metering project. The Multipurpose building is the highest-use building in community. It hosts health centre, fitness, language lab, kitchen, 300-person great room and administrative / council work space as such there are very high heating and cooling consumption patterns and costs associated with existing HVAC equipment. Currently, the HVAC system consists of four propane gas boiler and hydronic heating system alongside 12 individual AC units. Over the past 3-years, the Nation has paid approximately $27,500 and $10,300 on annual for propane and electricity. Project works include: - Pre and final design; - installation of HVAC; - installation of PV components including modules, inverters, racking, cables, anchors and controllers; - all related works.
