The project will construct a two-story, approximately 6,500 square foot Community Wellbeing Centre building adjacent to the K’omoks First Nation administration office. The building will include a commercial kitchen, language rooms and other programming areas. The project is designed in response to a need identified during treaty negotiations for a dedicated community wellness services building in Comox IR#1. The project will create a space so that K’omoks can tailor services to fit the unique needs of the community. This facility has been identified in the applicant’s Comprehensive Community Plan and Prioritized Amenities List. The project works will include: - gathering space; - reception area; - traditional and modern health rooms; - shared programming space; - language room; - commercial kitchen; - culture/youth and elder room; and - other related works.
