The project involves the design, construction, equipment and operation of an inland intermodal cargo terminal or railport in Kocaeli province, Turkey. The SPV is called Railport Terminal Isletmeleri A.S. and it is owned by Arkas Holding S.A.'s affiliate Limar Liman ve Gemi Isletmeleri A.S. (66.6 %) and Duisburger Hafen Aktiengesellschaft (Duisport) (33.3 %). The total project cost is $ 86 million of which EBRD and ICBC Turkey will each provide $ 30 million for total debt financing of $ 60 million. This gives a 70:30 debt:equity ratio. The logistics hub will be spread over 26.5 hectares and will facilitate freight rail transportation within Turkey and between Asia and Europe, and will benefit trade among countries through the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The railport is expected to handle 105,000 TEUs and 500,000 tonnes of general cargo in its 1st phase. It will have 5,000 square metres of warehouse storage capacity.
