Description | The Queen’s Health Systems is partnering with the state’s Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) to develop a 50,000-plus-square-foot outpatient care center in Kona, adjacent to a new hospital Queen’s is building. The facility will offer primary and specialty care in one location, aiming to provide seamless transition between inpatient and outpatient care while reducing wait and travel times. Queen’s will donate three to five acres of land for the project. HHSC is requesting $50 million in state funding for planning, design, and site work. The project is expected to create 350 to 450 new jobs and serve roughly 60,000–70,000 residents. The project is expected to take about four years to complete after funding approval, with the goal to have the first patient cared for in the fifth year. |
