Konza Cloud Expansion and Smart City Facilities Project

The project involves developing a fully operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Konza Technopolis, where Phase I horizontal infrastructure has already been completed across approximately 400 acres. This includes extensive developments such as over 45 km of streetscapes, a water treatment plant, a water reclamation facility, electricity distribution substations, high-efficiency utility systems, and automated solid waste management infrastructure. It also involves significant vertical developments within Konza Technopolis, including the Konza National Data Centre (KNDC) and various smart city facilities, as well as the Konza Technopolis Office Block, Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST), Riara University, the Open University of Kenya, residential housing units, and the ongoing construction of the Konza Complex Conference Facility.The Project is proposed to be implemented under a PPP structure, whereby the private partner will be responsible for financing, upgrading,expanding capacity, deploying advanced technologies, operating, and maintaining the existing KNDC facilities and associated digital infrastructure, while assuming performance and operational risks.
