Description | The project increase the quality of potable water for the Christina Lake Water System in the Kootenay Boundary Regional District. The project works will install ultraviolet (UV) treatment of the source water and install a reservoir expansion for the water treatment plant, which serves 1,100 people. The treatment upgrade is a requirement of the Interior Health Authority and additional storage is required to meet fire flow guidelines. The project works will include: - construction of a new water treatment plant (WTP) building and related HVAC, plumbing, and water heating; - installation of a new ultraviolet transmittance (UVT) meter, UV disinfection, and re-chlorination system; - connection to existing watermain, related mechanical piping and valves and connection to existing SCADA system; - construction of a storage tank and insulation, concrete reservoirs, tank drains and tie-ins, and breakthrough demising tank inside existing tank; - installation of approximately 44 m of 150-mm polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe, watermain tie-ins, valves, valve chambers and fittings, and system disinfection and flushing; - site restoration and hydroseeding, and approximately 100m of fencing and gate; - and earthworks/civil, mechanical, electrical, control/monitoring, roads/paths, lighting, signage; and - all related works. |
