Kootiyala Bridge Construction

The Kootiyala bridge is a proposed infrastructure project in B Shettigeri, Ponnampet taluk, intended to provide a connecting road and bridge to benefit local villages by offering the nearest route to many places in South Kodagu, including Madikeri. The project has been stalled for 30 years due to legal and environmental challenges, particularly because a small portion of the proposed road area belongs to a forest area, causing legal issues. Efforts are being made to find a suitable solution, including exploring alternative routes and constructing a bridge near Begur connecting Hudikeri to facilitate traffic and reduce travel distances.
