Information Ministry of Railways- has come up with Kosamba Umarpada GC PROJECT with a ticket size of 467.58 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Tender Award and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Kosamba ? Umarpada Section is NG branch line in Vadodara Division of Western Railway. It is isolated NG section. Conversion of NG to BG will provide uni-gauge rail system for the local population for journey from Kosamba to Umarpada without break of gauge. Moreover, it is long waited demand of Government of Gujarat and local public and their representatives to provide BG rail link to connect Major Route i.e. Mumbai -Vadodara Section. New connectivity will also make possible for Railway Passengers to have seamless rail journey to Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai and other places by connecting Kosamba - Umarpada by gauge conversion from NG to BG. Kosamba ? Umarpada Existing Narrow gauge is very complicated section in view of conversation of existing NG line to BG line due to very steep grade and sharp curvatures. Proposed BG section will be designed for 110 kmph design speed which is difficult to achieve in the existing alignment. Hence, this proposal is planned to detour section of existing Kosamba Umarpada alignment for proposed BG line by providing smooth curves and flatter grade. This railway line will help in rapid socio-economic development in cities of Kosamba Umarpada and all the cities that lie between and surrounding them.
