Kostroma city network (JSC Kostroma GTS) is the local telecom operator in the Kostroma Town, located in Central Russia. The company provides basic local telephone services. It also provides national and international services through Rostelecom and Kostroma Electrosvyaz. Kostroma Municipal Telephone Network was privatized in December 1993, after the formation of Svyazinvest, the national holding company. Svyazinvest held 38% of the common stock, and 51% of the voting rights by 1998. The municipal government, employees and individual investors owned the remaining stake. JSC Kostroma GTS was not integrated into the consolidated interregional telecom- companies formed by Svyazinvest. As of 2004, Svyazinvest held a 7.295 stake in Kostroma GTS. In 2006 the company had 85.2 thousand lines. In 2005 the company had 89.2 lines.
