Description | Government of Malaysia awarded Ranhill Powertron II Sdn Bhd(RPII), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ranhill Power Bhd, to build, own, and operate a 190MW Gas Fired Power Project in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for a period of 21 years. The plant was going to supply electricity to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB). The power purchase agreement between RPII and Sabah Electricity was signed on June 2006. The financial closure was reached on July 2006 when RPII awarded the EPC Contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the Plant to Ranhill Engineers and Constructors Sdn Bhd at a fixed lump sum turnkey price of RM570 million or USD 155 million In October, 2009 Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (Maybank IB) and Affin Investment Bank Bhd arranged syndicated credit facilities of USD 181.5 million for Ranhill Powertron II Sdn Bhd (RPII).
