Description | The Kothad-Chennur bridge project aims to connect the Chennur region with the northern parts of Kochi city. The bridge will serve as a bypass road for NH 66, reducing the distance between Varapuzha and the High Court junction by at least 6 km. The project involves acquiring around 40 cents of land and will benefit hundreds of families in the surrounding panchayats. The project was first proposed in 2005, received administrative sanction in 2021, and has undergone design revisions to increase vertical clearance as per Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) requirements. The Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority (KCZMA) has granted coastal regulation zone clearance for the project. |
