The project involves the repowering of Koudia Al Baida wind farm located in Tlat Taghramt near Tangier in northern Morocco. Once completed, the wind farm will have its 50MW capacity doubled to 100MW. The annual electricity production would power the consumption needs of approximately 420,000 inhabitants and prevent the emission of the equivalent of 308,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. The SPV - Koudia Al Baida Energy Company S.A., is owned by EDF and MASEN (Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy) on a 50:50 basis. The total value of the project is $131.12 million and the debt package includes a $44.38 million loan from EBRD, a $4.54 loan the Climate Investment Fund (CIF), which will enable MASEN to finance its equity contribution and a $5.04 million commercial loan from Attijariwafa Bank, Bank of Africa, Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) and Société Générale. Siemens Gamesa is supplying the blades for the wind turbines and construction is expected to be complete by Q2 2024.
