Description
Description | Fu-Gen Energia VII Oy, a subsidiary of Fu-Gen, an independent power producer focused on long-term ownership of renewable energy assets developed in close collaboration with local communities to align projects with environmental and regional needs across the Nordics. Fu-Gen Energia VII Oy is planning the construction of a utility-scale solar power plant in Kouvola, on the Lakiasuo peat production area. Peat extraction at the site is expected to conclude end in the summer of 2025, after which the land will be repurposed for renewable energy generation. The project area covers approximately 150 hectares and is located about 30 kilometers southeast of Kouvola city center. The planned capacity of the solar power plant is 80 MWp. Once operational, it is expected to generate enough electricity annually to meet the consumption needs of approximately around 50,000 typical two-bedroom apartments. The project will utilize the latest bifacial solar panel technology, which captures sunlight from both sides of the panel to maximize energy yield. The project is currently in a planning stage, with permitting progressing well. Pre-construction works are scheduled to begin by Q4/2025 at the latest, and the solar park is expected to be commissioned by March 2027. |
