Köpenick Rail Station Renovation and Regional Rail Upgrade Project

The project involves the renovation of the Köpenick rail station in southeast Berlin as part of the upgrade of the west-east rail corridor from Berlin to the Polish border near Frankfurt. It includes the construction of a new 220m-long regional rail platform, addition of two new regional rail tracks, installation of a passing loop, renewal of approximately 3km of railway track, modernization of overhead line systems, reconstruction and upgrade of five railway bridges, construction of approximately 18,000m² of noise barriers, and barrier-free access improvements including lifts and new station entrances. The project aims to improve regional rail capacity and connectivity between Berlin, Potsdam, Magdeburg, and Frankfurt (Oder) with train speeds up to 160 km/h.
