The KPS III HVDC Renewable Energy Transmission Project is a major transmission infrastructure project aimed at evacuating renewable energy from the Khavda region of Gujarat, India. It involves the establishment of a 2500 MW, ±500 kV HVDC Voltage Source Converter terminal station at KPS3 and a corresponding terminal station at South Olpad, connected by a ±500 kV HVDC Bipole transmission line with a dedicated metallic return system. The project features advanced operational capabilities such as 100 percent power reversal, black start functionality, automatic grid restoration, and dynamic reactive power support. It is implemented on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis and has a fixed implementation schedule of 48 months from the date of transfer of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
