Description
Description | The Kruunuvuori Bridge in Helsinki, Finland, is the world's longest bridge dedicated exclusively to trams, pedestrians, and cyclists. It spans approximately 1,200 meters and connects Helsinki's city center with the island of Laajasalo. The bridge is a key part of the Kruunusillat (Crown Bridges) program, a major national infrastructure initiative focused on sustainable urban transport. Designed by Knight Architects, the bridge features a 135-meter-high diamond-shaped concrete pylon and incorporates engineering solutions to withstand Helsinki's coastal weather conditions. It was engineered with a design life of up to 200 years and aims to promote low-carbon mobility and reduce dependence on private cars. |
