Description | This project is the construction of a new school in the community of Burwash Landing, a predominately First Nations community and home of the Kluane First Nation (KFN). The new school would replace the existing Kluane Lake School in Destruction Bay, located 17 km from Burwash Landing. The Yukon Government is working on this project in partnership with KFN as part of its commitment to reconciliation and long-term capital planning for Yukon schools. This move comes at the request of Kluane First Nation. The proposed school would be a public school serving students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Kluane Lake School is located in Destruction Bay since 1961 and is now aging. Most of the school’s students reside in or around Burwash Landing and are bused to and from school. |
