Description

Description

In 1994, the consortium of Malaysian Resources (64.4%), KTM (26%) and Pembinaan (9.6%) was awarded the contract to build and operate the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station. In exchange for developing the project, the sponsors were given the development rights for the area surrounding the construction site. The facility integrates all major rail transportation in the city and the airport facilities. The station will be the interchange for the Light Rail Transport System (PUTRA), the KTM Komuter train and the Express Rail Link. The facility has a total area of 966,308 square meters. Financing for the project was achieved with commercial bank loans (US$ 39.5 million loan/guarantee facility arranged by Bumiputra Merchant Bankers in Jan. 1999) and the sale of real estate assets near by the site (US$ 140.5 million by Mar. 2000). Construction works were expected to finish in Apr. 2001. None None
