Information National Mineral Development Corporation Limited [NMDC] has come up with Kumaraswamy Project Donimalai with a ticket size of 75.77 INR Crores. This project in Mine sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Not Applicable Economic/Social Impact of the Project The total Mining Lease area of Kumaraswamy Iron Ore Mine comprises of forest, revenue and un-diverted forest land of 639.80 Ha. The un-diverted forestland of 159.01 Ha was retained by NMDC by payment of NPV amount of Rs.12.76 crores under section 2 iii of FC Act 1980. NMDC applied for diversion of the un-diverted balance area i.e 159.01 Ha. In accordance with the MoEF Circular dt. 01.04.2015 , 31.3.2016, the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Ballari issued a demand notice for the payment of Net Present Value charges, amounting to Rs. 12,76,85,030, as per Section 2 iii of the Forest Conservation Act, 1980. NMDC made the payment on 22nd August 2016. The proposal was originally submitted on September 3, 2014, and later revised the application and re-submitted through the online portal in 2016. NMDC again applied on 23.2.2024, the area proposed for diversion is revised to 101.52 Ha and the remaining 57.49 Ha will be retained under section 2 iii.
