Information National Mineral Development Corporation Limited [NMDC] has come up with Kumaraswamy project out side Infrastrecture with a ticket size of 27.99 INR Crores. This project in Mine sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Kumaraswamy Iron Ore Mine i.e KIOM of NMDC Ltd. ML No: 1111 has obtained stage-II Forest Clearance for 341.20Ha forest land from MOEF&CC vide letter dated 24.7.2006. NMDC has constructed a down-hill conveyor for the transportation of ore, approach roads for the movement of vehicles and a Power line for transmission of power and are in use exclusively for KIOM and have been in operation since 2011 i.e 16.5Ha. As per condition no: 3 of FC letter, the lease period of diverted forest land shall be co-terminus with the current mining lease granted under MMDR Act, 1957. Earlier lease was valid upto 17.10.2022. NMDC has obtained an extension of lease period for further period of 20 years from the Government of Karnataka, Commerce, and Industries Dept till 17.10.2042 as per MMDR Amendment Act 2015 , 324.70Ha excluding 16.5ha infrastructure area due to the area is outside of Mining Lease.
