Ilmatar Energy Oy trough its project company Ilmatar Solar Ypyrinneva Oy is implementing the Kuortane Solar project - a 74,03 MWp solar PV production plant developed on land currently used for peat production. The project significantly increases the amount of industrial sized solar production in Finland. The expected output of the plant is 67,6 GWh per year, which translates to 913 full-load hours for the planned solar farm. Electricity production with solar photovoltaics is a renewable source of electricity that can significantly decrease the greenhouse gas emissions in Finnish electricity production. Kuortane Ypyrinneva solar farm can help decrease approximately 3 650 tons of CO2 eqv. emissions annually in Finland when the emissions of solar electricity production are compared to the average electricity production emissions in Finland. Ilmatar has a strong track record in RES projects. Ilmatar is the only Finnish company developing, building and managing 100% renewable energy, with a significant number of already implemented wind, solar and energy storage projects. llmatar has 170 wind and solar farms and 15 energy storage projects in the project development or construction phase in Finland, Sweden and Åland. By the beginning of 2024, 420 MW of these projects under construction will be available for market use. Ilmatar owns, operates and manages electricity market trading in projects throughout their life cycle, i.e. commits to the projects for about 40 years.
