Kupinga small hydropower

The project entails the construction and operation of a small hydropower plant (1.6 MW) located on Rusitu River in Chipinge, Manicaland province. The project company developing the plant is Kupinga Renewable Energy Private Ltd., owned by Old Mutual and other individual investors. This is a greenfield project initiated on a license scheme (25-year operating license). The plant will benefit from a long - term (25 years) PPA with Zera (Zimbabwe Energy Regulating Authority). Total investment in the project was reported at $5.7 million funded with own resources by Old Mutual and other individual investors.
