GB Knowledge about the language and culture of the other side is the key to more understanding and cross-border mobility. In the German-Danish border region, however, considerable parts of the population(s) have little, if any, contact with the language and culture of the other side. This is a challenge when it comes to creating an interrelated region in which citizens consider that crossing the border to work or for leisure activities is something entirely natural. At the same time, substantial parts of the programme region are faced with a negative demographic trend. To reverse that trend, we need to specifically address the young generation and highlight the positive aspects of living in a dynamic border region. KursKultur 2.0 therefore aims to promote a more profound understanding of language and culture in the German-Danish region and provide information about German-Danish micro projects. It intends to increase interest in and knowledge about the language of the two neighbouring countries and support activities to raise the visibility of the German-Danish cultural heritage. By focusing specifically on children, young people and families with children, the project also seeks to emphasize the particular opportunities that life in our border region has to offer. KursKultur 2.0 has the following key objectives and activities: -Strengthening regional cohesion by fostering people-to-people encounters and projects. Cultural events in the form of projects and other activities will raise awareness about the special opportunities available to citizens of a border region. -Improving and strengthening the conditions for, and interest, in learning German and Danish as the language of the neighbouring state. We aim to develop targeted principles of teaching (didactics) for German and Danish with a specific focus on authentic language encounters. It is necessary to demonstrate the importance of learning the language of the neighbouring country in order to encourage more people to learn that language. -Increasing the regional citizens' knowledge about our common culture and history. More knowledge about our common cultural heritage will lead to a better understanding of the history and uniqueness of the border region. All objectives and activities of KursKultur 2.0 are focused on the close cohesion and interrelation between language comprehension and cultural understanding as necessary competencies in a dynamic border region.
