Description

Description

The Hamburg International Short Film Festival with its 40th and 41st edition will present a wide variety of short films with a focus on European audiovisual works to an audience of more than 16.000 on site visitors as well as to 6000 online visitors. The targeted audience is not only those people who are interested in and familiar with short films anyways, the aim of the festival is to reach new audience by offering an attractive 360 degree festival with not only cinema programming but also exhibitions, music programme, workshops and panel discussions which deal with topics from the general cultural world. Also through our children's and young audience's section Mo&Friese we are able to reach very young audiences starting at age 4. This section focusses strongly on film education and works together with schools and daycare institutions from Hamburg and all over Germany. By presenting the festival programming online besides the regular cinema programming we are able to reach a nationwide audience and also offer a worldwide access for industry-related guests (more than 850) to enable them to watch the festival's content and to view European audiovisual works which this audience normally might not be able to see. The festival offers a strong year round presence through it's own events (online and offline), it's collaborations with many European festival partners and through the distribution department of the (Kurzfilm Agentur Hamburg) which distributes short films to cinemas, online channels, TV-stations, VOD platforms and other outlets. Each year the agency picks up films from the festival's programming to distribute them worldwide. The festival also offers workshops specifically aimed at schools and young audiences year-round through the Hamburg Shortfilm School and programs short film programs in it's attached cinema. The festival also focusses strongly on presenting an environmental friendly event and is a signatory member of the Green Charter for Film Festivals.
