Description | The project involves the construction and operation of a new terminal (T2) at the international airport in Kuwait.The scope of work includes the development of a new passenger terminal, a third runway, the expansion and renovation of the two existing runways and other facilities. The terminal's trefoil layout consists of three symmetrical wings with departure gates. The facades will span 1.2 km and extend from a dramatic 25 m-high central space. There will be one underground level and four above-ground levels in T2. There will be 120 check-in counters and a 2,930 bag-per-hour 13 MAP baggage processing system. There will be high-speed baggage sorters for around 1.5 km and the baggage conveyors will span about 6 km. The integrated luggage system has capabilities for screening, dynamic storing, and sorting.The new terminal is being develope in three phases. The first phase will add a capacity of 13 million passengers a year, the subsequent phases will enhance the capacity to between 25 million and 50 million passengers a year. |
