Description

The proposed project on northern Vancouver Island will implement a mix of building envelope upgrades, HVAC equipment upgrades, and solar photovoltaic installations at six of the Nation’s on-reserve community buildings: the Big House, Head Start children’s program building, school, health centre, gym/recreation centre, and resort campground. The project will reduce operating greenhouse gas emissions by increasing building energy efficiency and generating clean energy. The project works will include: - install solar photovoltaic arrays with approximately 185 kW total capacity and associated rooftop and ground-based mounting hardware and electrical work (Head Start ~15 kW, gym ~30 kW, school ~80 kW, resort campground ~60 kW); - replace roof and upgrade wall insulation (Big House); - upgrade windows (resort campground); - add air-source heat pumps (gym, resort campground); - replace domestic hot water heaters (gym, Head Start); - upgrade lighting to LEDs (gym, Head Start, resort campground); - site work, mechanical, electrical, control/monitoring, signage, and other related works and appurtenances.
