Kyivenergo was an integrated complex which generated, transmitted and distributed all electricity for Kyiv. Its installed capacity was 1200 MW and it served 1 million customers. It owned the electricity distribution network in the city of Kiev, supplying electricity to 972,000 customers. The company also leased two gas-fired CHP plants with a combined capacity of 1,200 MW as well as the municipal heating network and numerous boilers from the city. Thermal energy was produced at TPP-5 and TPP-6, as well as boiler plants. In 2010, the total length of air and cable electrical power transmission lines came to 11,700 km. In July, 2010 DTEK increased its stake in Kievenergo up to 24.9% Altana Capital was the investment broker that organized the deal. before July, 2006 DTEK owned 6% of the shares. In December, 2010 DTEK further increased its stake to 39.98%. The state-run Energy Company of Ukraine owned the remaining shares. Kievenergo’s main consumers in the electricity production segment were the public (32.3%), non-industrial consumers (30.5%), industrial consumers (30.1%), electrified urban transport (3.9%), towns (3%) and agricultural producers (0.2%). In addition to the normal supply of electricity and heat to the Kyiv market, the company also periodically receives heat tariff compensation according to a law enacted in 2005. In November, 2011, DTEK announced it increased its stake in Kyivenergo up to 46.82%. In December 2011, DTEK won an auction held by the State Property Fund for a 25% stake in Kyivenergo with a bid of US$56.5 m (450m UAH), US$2.3m (18.2 m UAH) higher than a rival bid from Poltavaoblenergo. Consequently, DTEK's stake in the company was 71.82% 2012 Update - change5 private to 72% and add US$56.5million to "payment to govt" - it cleared early 2012.
