Description | The project involves the construction and interim operation of the L-28 South gated culverts (S-229A, S-229B, and S-229C) as part of the Western Everglades Restoration Plan (WERP), a component of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). The USACE Jacksonville District is issuing an Environmental Assessment (EA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) to support the interim operations plan requested by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). The culverts are currently under construction with an anticipated completion date of May 2027. The interim operations plan seeks Section 408 approval to operate the culverts once construction is completed and prior to incorporation into a Water Control Plan. |
