La Claqueta, an independent audiovisual production company established over 20 years ago in Seville, Spain, is proud to present its 2025 Slate, marking a significant step from its 2023 Slate of three feature films, all of which have premiered or are set to premiere. This new slate features six diverse projects: a historical war drama series based on a true story and novel adaptation, a disaster political thriller inspired by real events, a psychological terror feature film rooted in the director's personal story (book adaptation), a crypto-crime documentary series, an animated family film, and a short film by emerging Spanish talent. All but the short film are European co-productions, involving both first-time and established partners from high- and low-production-capacity countries. This slate reflects La Claqueta’s strategic commitment to international outreach and tackling projects of unprecedented scale. Notably, five of the six projects have female directors and/or writers, aligning with the company’s dedication to inclusive storytelling. The slate addresses global and urgent themes, including climate-induced disasters, economic transformation, overlooked female war heroes, complex female relationships, digital capitalism, science vs. pseudoscience, and humanity’s relationship with death. With mostly female leads or female-centered narratives, the projects underscore the company’s focus on sensitive and complex storytelling. The proposal seeks support for key development activities, including research, scriptwriting, location scouting, casting, and integrating environmental and marketing strategies, amongst others. These steps are vital to completing scripts, assembling creative teams, locking locations, and designing visual concepts. Aligned with the work programme's goals, this initiative will enhance cross-border collaboration, strengthen La Claqueta's European market position, and secure financial backing to transition into production.
