This initiative will enhance and expand the country’s energy infrastructure. The solar plant is designed with a generation capacity of 78 MW, complemented by an energy storage capacity of 30 MWh. The initiative is sponsored by Energía Turística S.A. (Enertur), a Dominican company. It aims to diversify the nation’s energy matrix and improve the resilience of its electrical grid. The total project cost is $56.4 million, financed through loans of $18.8 million each from IDB Invest, the Dutch Development Finance Institution (FMO), and Canada’s bilateral Development Finance Institution, FinDev Canada.
