Description

This project involves the construction of La Union and La Mata solar PV parks, located in Cordoba and La Mata municipalities, departments of Cordoba and Cesar, Colombia. The sponsor is the Spanish company Solarpack and the planned capacity of both solar pv parks is 252.8 MWp, of which La Union with 144.5 MWp, and La Mata with 108.3 MWp. They will generate energy output of around 440 GWh per year enough to satisfy the needs of 230 thousand homes. Both projects were awarded with a 15-year PPA in the Third Long Term Contract Auction that was organized by the Colombian Mines and Energy Ministry in 2021. Total project costs are approximately $158.87 million, which will be financed with a senior secured debt. Lenders include IDB Invest (also providing a guarantee and a syndication), the United Kingdom Sustainable Infrastructure Program (UK SIP), the Netherlands Development Bank (FMO) and Bancolombia.
