The very new phenomenon of digital platform work is not widespread in public knowledge yet. As a consequence, there are no reliable data available on the number of people working through digital platforms. The purpose of the ad hoc survey is to collect information about digital platform work to contribute to define policy goals aimed at ameliorating working conditions. The action will expect to support the objectives and ensure compliance with the requirements of the new legal framework of digital platform employment. The ad hoc subject will be carried out during all quarters of 2026. The data collection will be in only one wave, as part of the HU-LFS. The distribution of the subsample will include all weeks of the year. Persons taking part in the ad hoc subject will answer a separate questionnaire following the core LFS. The exact, achieved sample size is unknown at this point, but it is expected to be around 19 thousand persons aged 15-64 years. The main tasks of the group of expert statisticians working on the 2026 LFS ad hoc subject will be i.a.: • preparation of the national questionnaire • finalisation of the questionnaire and interviewers’ instructions • creation of training materials • preparation of the interim progress report in English describing the action • launch of data collection • transcode the data • supply the microdata to Eurostat • preparation of Quality Report
